What is an Informed Conscience?

In order to make a decision doctor’s access a wide range of medical knowledge and patient history in order to diagnose a problem and treatment. The same principle can be applied to making moral decisions. We must be well informed regarding all the facts of the situation, moral values, virtues and laws in order to make our final decision. Therefore, an informed catholic conscience is an educated conscience that knows in any given situation.

Read the following scenario and answer the questions:

Roger Smith, a quite competent swimmer, is out for a leisurely stroll. During the course of his walk he passes by a deserted pier from which a teenage boy who apparently cannot swim has fallen into the water. The boy is screaming for help. Smith recognizes that there is absolutely no danger to himself if he jumps in to save the boy; he could easily succeed if he tried. Nevertheless, he chooses to ignore the boy’s cries. The water is cold and he is afraid of catching a cold — he doesn’t want to get his good clothes wet either. “Why should I inconvenience myself for this kid,” Smith says to himself, and passes on.

1.) There are always TWO sides to a conscience. What would Roger’s conscience be telling him?

Save the child no matter what. dont worry about the consequenses.
2.) Think of an example of Jesus’ teaching and explain how his teachings can help us to make an appropriate decision?
love everyone as i have loved you. this is a very common saying that jesus sead to everyone.

Upload the answers to the following questions in your blog.1.) Define the term ‘moral integrity’The virtues relevant for integrity always accompany other, substantive virtues, and their associated values, principles and rules.

Quated from http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/1467-9752.00222

By reading many articles and other peoples opinions i have come to the conclusion that ‘moral integrity’ is more about us being children/adolescences its being guided in the right direction if needed. We have to start to think for ourselves

Maximillian Kolbe is regarded as a Christian of exemplary moral integrity because he chose to give up his life for another man like jesus died for us.

3.) Outline Maximillians ethical actions/principles that he demonstrated in Auschwitz.

4.) Evaluate whether you think he made the right decision and provide research to support your answer. i.e. Catholic teachings.

1.) Give a brief description of who the Dalai Lama is? (Include resources to support)

The Dalai Lama is a spiritual leader. He is found in a village located in the Himmalayas. He was given this town to govern when the chinese had invaeded his homeland of Tibet.  The Dalai Lama is like the Pope of , ‘Tibetan Buddism’.

2.) Evaluate how the actions of the Dalai Lama in regard to the riots in Tibet would be regarded as exemplary moral integrity.

This man gave up his spot in this ‘polital’ life to save the people of tibet from any harm. He has resigned to save his people. he gave up a lot so no one would get hurt any more. he puts others needs before his own.

It is a great way for people to speak up. It is for free, anyone can access it, anytime, anywhere, its safe for kids and its a great educational source. Because of these reasons and many more people are saying why not. If you want to upload something its easy as making an account, recording what you want to and uploading it. Youtube is viewed by millions each day.
